To comply with fire safety legislation you will need to have completed a fire risk assessment and if you employ more than 4 employees, have documented the significant findings and taken action to reduce and risks found.
A fire risk assessment can be a challenging and time consuming task to complete, even for a seasoned professional. If carried out incorrectly or found to be inadequate the “Responsible Person” can be held accountable, heavy fines imposed and criminal charges could be taken against them. The Order strongly advises to nominate a competent person, one that can demonstrate it has “the appropriate skills and experience”. Both or either party may be held responsible at the time of inspection or post incident.
