Fire Safety Management and risk assessment Training

This 2 day course is designed as an introduction to fire safety management and fire safety risk assessments and covers all the necessary topics to enable the participant to put in place a successful system for fire safety management.

The course will equip you with all the information required to carry out fire safety risk assessments of most basic building types and give you the ability to record and report your findings.

How to develop a Fire Safety Manual

Understanding fire extinguishers
Selecting the correct extinguisher

Day 2
Building Construction & Design – preventative measures
Means of Escape
Fire detection and fire alarms
Means of fighting fire
Access & facilities for the fire service (fire fighting operations)
Fire risk assessment
Definition of hazard and risk
Outline of the objectives of risk assessment.
Explanation of differences between different types of fire incident
Description of Fire Risk assessment process;
Identifying fire hazards
Identifying population at risk
Evaluating risk and adequacy of current controls:
Likelihood of harm and probably severity;
Qualitative and semi-quantitative risk ranking;
Recording significant findings: format; information to be recorded
Reviewing the fire risk assessment:
Outline of criteria for a ‘suitable and sufficient’ risk assessment.
Environmental impact of fire

Duration  2 days (8 hour days including lunch and refreshments)

All our instructors are fully qualified fire fighters with many years of experience. Our unique partnership with Southampton Airport Fire & Rescue Service makes us the only training provider in the south offering training delivered by actual serving fire fighters. This gives us the added advantage of ensuring all the information given is up to date and accurate due to the stringent controls the airport puts on the training of all its firefighters.
