| The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to enable first aid to be given to employees if they are injured or become ill at work
Southampton Airport Fire & Rescue Service don’t just deal with fires, they are trained first aiders too. They deal with all emergency incidents at the airport including first aid. To keep up to date with first aid training the fire & Rescue Service constantly train with first aid and several staff are fully qualified first aid instructors.
Using these skills and experience to deliver first aid training of the highest standard, all our courses are fully certified and meet with the relevant legal standards of first aid training.
HSE First Aid at Work Course
This is a four day HSE approved course and deals with incidents, using a first aid kit, resuscitation, choking, treating an unconscious casualty and heart attack, control of bleeding, burns and scalds, poisoning, fractures and shock.

Basic resuscitation course
This course is aimed at anyone interested in learning basic resuscitation techniques. No prior experience is necessary as full instruction will be given along with the opportunity to practice the skills learned throughout the course. The course will give the individual a basic working knowledge of first aid with some practical experience under controlled conditions. On successful completion of the course and assessments a certificate of attendance will be issued which is valid for a 3 year period. Students will also leave with a current copy of the First Aid Manual.
First Aid for Appointed person
This 1 day course is designed for schools/nurseries where a nominated person is required to take charge in the event of illness or accident. The course includes managing an emergency, contents of a first aid kit, control of bleeding, resuscitation as appropriate for age group, incident management, specific hazards in schools/nurseries and treatment of an unconscious casualty.
